Every time I read this blog, I have to sit on the commode. I think it's a laxative.

Entertaining and laxatative, as usual.

Oh no! Nola Chick should have known better than that. Reminds me . . . I need new gear. I don't have enough fleur-bling.

Back to this week's regularly scheduled Vomit Fest.

We also didn't take into account the biggest factor in this loss: I wore my Saints vest to the game. Same vest I wore to the Monday night game when Deuce went down last season. I'll bend over and take my spanking like the good Catholic girl I am. The vest shall be burned!

'I do believe it was the Late 80’s Biker Bar Supergroup, Great White, who prophetically crooned: "Once bitten, twice shy baby."'

and

'I do believe it was the Late 80’s Hair Metal Icons, Cinderella, who prophetically crooned: "Don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone."'

have made my day. I know this is the easy out, but I pretty much 100% agree with your findings.

Would you say we are a run or pass-first team?
Pass.

What other successful offenses (if that's what we still call ourselves) are pass-first?
How about the Colts, Eagles, and Patriots.

What do those three teams have in common relative to their running game that we don't?
They spread the field to run zone-blocking, or draws, or counters, or traps (i.e. they get the defense running upfield); whereas, Payton usually runs from a power running set (i-formation, two TE's, or bunched WR's that congest the box).

How come our O-line is one of the league best at protecting the passer and one of the league worst at run-blocking?
Maybe I'm wrong, but when you ask them to pass-block 65% of the time (I'll leave it to Wang to give us the correct percentage), and power run block the other 40% of the time, your asking them to execute a set of complete different techniques.

Most teams (that lead with the pass) run from disguised pass-formations. Zone blocking, traps, counters and draws (not underwear) would be more consistent with Payton's (pass) play calling.

You can't have it both ways coach and last I checked, Reggie is not suited to run off-tackle behind a fullback. Then again, neither was Marshall Faulk or Brian Westbrook (I would even argue Joe Addai), but they were / aren't asked to do so.

For those wondering... Reggie's 25 yard run in week 1?
Yeah, the O-line zone blocked on that play. Unfortunately, I don't know why that haven't done it since.

Payton's not going to change, so get used to it. Besides, our offense will finish in the top 5 again this year, even if the head coach can't mix and match run/pass effectively.

Yes, it was a horseshit performance. They had a chance to play horribly and steal a road win from a team that was trying to hand it to them, and they flat blew it.
