Guest Color Commentary: Saints vs. Bills
So the shit hit the fan at my web host this morning.
After a long, torturous string of emails with “tech support” (and I use the term as loosely as possible) it seems to have been established that a rack of servers went down last night, and somehow this resulted in the corruption of this here blog’s database. There was a backup, but that backup was not done last night (of course.) So my post from yesterday, which of course was by far my best one to date (IMHO) has apparently been permanently lost. Shit.
At this point, my only hope is that Google cached the post yesterday, and in a few days it’ll turn up on their SERPS and I can copy from the cached page back into the database. But by then, nobody will care (assuming they ever did in the first place.)
In the meantime, I guess there’s not much I can do except to recycle the buffalo wings pic and post a Guest Commentary thread. Hopefully this one will work a little better than the last one. Baby steps….

We are very sorry that rebooting your computer did not solve the issue with the corrupted table in the database hosted on our server.
Your issue is very important to us. I have consulted with a Level 7 Support Specialist, and he has assured me that your issue can be resolved by upgrading to the current release of Windows Media Player.
Please close this ticket when this resolves the issue.

Woohoo! I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank the Baby Jeebus for inventing Google. Turns out they did, in fact, cache a copy of the post from Thursday that I was tremendously proud of, which yesterday I thought had been lost forever. Hit the SERPS today, copy/paste, just like it had been there all along. Google, you are the shit.
